I’m a bit of a nut for typefaces, fonts, typography (that’s not the art of spelling things incorrectly) etc. – as some of you know.
Here’s a great infographic that takes us through the ages. Note it’s for Western (meaning latin script) typefaces. I’d equally love to see something similar for Chinese/Japanese characters.
I was thinking of something like this when watching a recent series of Mad Men and noticing something on their office wall about Helvetica. It hadn’t occurred to me that font was from that era and so new (relatively). Of course it has now go on to conquer the world, which is very un-Swiss-like.
